Info for Fauré and Saint-Saëns

On this recording from Mirare, up-and-coming French violinist Deborah Nemtanu is partnered with acclaimed Austrian conductor (and fellow violinist) Thomas Zehetmair in an album of music by Saint-Saens and Fauré. The disc explores Nemtanu's skills both as a soloist and as leader of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. The program features an orchestral masterwork by Fauré, the suite from Pelléas et Mélisande, framed by Nemtanu's brilliant readings of works for violin and orchestra by both composers. This disc marks Zehetmair's début recording as principal conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.

“Characterful and very French playing, with an idiomatic brightness and transparency in Saint-Saens, balanced by the more veiled Pelleas Suite and a rich-toned Berceuse.” (BBC Music Magazine)

“The calibre of the musicians is well displayed in a wonderfully crystalline performance of Fauré's Pelléas...Nemtanu captures well the intimacy of Saint-Saëns's youthful First Violin Concerto and she's equally comfortable in that standard virtuoso, the Introduction and Rondo capriccioso” (Gramophone)
