Info for Cayenne (Remastered)
Second album of Bay Area jazzy funk from the percussionist for the Headhunters band. Produced by Leon Ndugu Chancler, with Rodney Franklin, Ray Obiedo, Hadley Caliman, James Levi and others, the groove goes back and forth between uptempo slick funk, to more jazzy fusion tracks, to a couple of spacious percussion based numbers. The intro to "Magic" is ripe for sampling with a tight 70s groove, and nice stabs, before the cut rolls in with a nice Grover Washington type vibe. Other numbers include "What's This Mess", "I've Been Around" and "Latican Space Mambo".
