"Stell dir vor, du bist unter einem blauen Himmel, trinkst kaltes Wasser und schaust einen David-Lynch-Film: So klingt die Musik", sagt Philipp Rüttgers über sein neues Album Etudes of Shapes and Forms. Dafür hat sich der Pianist Anregungen bei Meisterwerken innovativer Komponisten wie Ligeti, Schönberg und Debussy geholt. Mit diesen Methoden bildet er eine ganze Palette von Emotionen ab, von Freude und Aufregung bis hin zur Entspannung.

Der deutschstämmige Pianist und Komponist Philipp Rüttgers ist seit 15 Jahren in der niederländischen Jazzszene aktiv. Auf seinem neuen Album "Etudes of Shapes and Forms" ist er zum ersten Mal in einem akustischen Klaviertrio zu hören, mit dem vielseitigen Thomas Pol am Kontrabass und dem aufstrebenden Star Sun-Mi Hong am Schlagzeug.

Für diese Platte ließ sich Philipp von Pianisten/Komponisten wie Craig Taborn, Kris Davis und Sylvie Courvoisier inspirieren, wobei er sich vor allem auf "Formen und Gestalten" konzentrierte. Er erklärt: "Formen im Sinne von harmonischen und rhythmischen Strukturen, und Formen im Sinne von Arrangements mit Bass und Schlagzeug und der Struktur von Improvisation und Komposition."

Born in Kreuzberg Berlin, based in Amsterdam, Philipp shapes his personal artistic voice as a professional piano player, composer and improviser in the field of jazz and contemporary music.
