Laura Masotto
Biography Laura Masotto
Laura Masotto
is a violinist and composer who blends the depth of classical strings with refined electronic experimentation. A graduate of the Conservatory of Verona, she began playing the violin at the age of five; by fifteen, she was moving between chamber music and post-rock bands, leading to the launch of her solo project in 2019.
She has released Fireflies (2019, Lady Blunt Records) for solo violin and looper; Here and Now (2020, Flipper Music), composed during an artist residency at Fabra i Coats in Barcelona; WE (2021, 7K!), marking the introduction of synthesizers; and The Spirit of Things (2024, 7K!), which received international acclaim and was reviewed by The Wire and Electronic Sound. The album was followed by a European tour across the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, and Italy, with concerts at venues such as Silent Green in Berlin and TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, as well as appearances at festivals including Eurosonic, Haldern Pop, Ypsigrock, Andersen, and Hemmersdorf. She is currently working on her new album Notturno, scheduled for release in 2026.
In 2022, she released two tracks with Deutsche Grammophon: “Sol Levante” for Mari Samuelsen’s album Lys, and a rework of Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Shéhérazade” for the Summer Tales collection.
Masotto’s music has gained wide international recognition: her track “Atoms,” from WE, was selected as the official soundtrack for the Dior Fall–Winter 2025–26 campaign. Her work has also been featured in contexts ranging from the Jil Sander fashion show within Moncler’s The City of Genius project, presented at Shanghai Fashion Week in 2024 (which used her track “Lucciola”), to the Emmy Award–winning Netflix series Baby Reindeer, which includes “Sol Levante.” She has composed original music for film and contemporary dance, including the documentary Biki, directed by Michele Mally. For the same director, she composed in 2025 the soundtrack for the documentary Tabù, Egon Schiele, to be released in early 2026 on Sky Arte. She has also recorded three film scores composed by Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari: for the Rai Cinema movie Gli Asteroidi; for 100 Preludi by Alessandra Pescetta, featuring the voice of Lisa Gerrard; and for La seconda vita by Vito Palmieri, featuring Cristina Donà. Two of her tracks, “La danza di Lisa” and “Mirage,” are included in the soundtrack of Alberto Rizzi’s film Squali, premiered at Alice nella Città 2024 as part of the Rome Film Festival.
