Biography Mixtura
Born in Munich, Katharina Bäuml studied oboe with Klaus Becker, Rainer Herweg and Winfried Liebermann. She studied Baroque oboe in Basle with Renate Hildebrand and Katharina Arfken. She gained orchestral experience under, among others, Claudio Abbado and Pierre Boulez, with ensembles such as Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Les Mu- siciens du Louvre, and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. She specializes in historical reed instruments and Spanish Renaissance music. She has made international concert appearances and been featured on CDs. Since 2005 she has been leader of “Capella de la Torre,” now Germany’s leading Renaissance music ensemble. Katharina Bäuml teaches in Hanover and Geneva.
Margit Kern grew up near Frankfurt am Main. She completed instrumental studies with Hugo Noth in Trossingen, Germany and Matti Rantanen in Helsinki. She won First Prize at the “International Gaudeamus Competition for Interpreters of Contemporary Music.” She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, among otherswith the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, musikFabrik, Ensemble Modern, and the Oh-Ton Ensemble. She specializes in New Music and has been involved in numerous premiere performances and theme-centered solo recital programs. She works closely with composers such as Charlotte Seither, Samir Odeh-Tamimi and Younghi Pagh-Paan. Margit Kern teaches accordion at the University of the Arts, Bremen.
