Soul Jazz Records
is a British record label founded in 1990 by Stuart Baker, specialising in reissues, rarities and compilations. From a record shop in central London's Soho district, Soul Jazz Records has become an institution for good music over the last twenty years. The idea behind Soul Jazz Records is to highlight and uphold the value of music. Not only do they make rare, little-known and unheard sound material available again, but they also give this music a context, locate it by means of compilations, DVDs and books and place it in larger contexts. The world of Soul Jazz Records is full of cross-connections and shows fine lines that connect jazz with post-punk, reggae with bass music, world music with electronica.
