María Dueñas is joined by Gustavo Dudamel and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela for a vibrant performance of the opening movement of Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole, Op. 21.
The video as well as the album was recorded at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios with Gustavo Dudamel — an important inspiration for Dueñas not only “as a phenomenal musician, but also as a wonderful human being” — and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra. The program includes, among other works, Korngold’s Violin Concerto and Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole, alongside miniatures by Debussy and Ponce that deliberately echo Heifetz’s tradition. The result is a tribute that honors Heifetz’s legacy while also showcasing María Dueñas’s own distinctive artistic voice.
