Info for Equilibrismi

The avant-garde of the 20th century, reinterpreted with the virtuosity and skill of two instrumentalists accustomed to great challenges: Petra Magoni and Finaz, alias Alessandro Finazzo.

Petra Magoni (vocals) and Finaz (vocals and guitar) are known for their tireless pursuit of the perfect balance between creativity, technique and emotion. We know them as two tightrope walkers on the edge of the abyss, and with the project ‘Equilibrismi’ they combine the inventions of last century's avant-garde art on the instability of a tightrope stretched between them and the audience. Literature, poetry and music intertwine in the imaginative, improvised reinterpretations of the two Tuscan artists, who are bound by a long-standing deep friendship and finally meet on stage in this exciting new project. Palazzeschi, Cage, Marinetti, Lennon-McCartney – all of this can be relived in the free artistic interplay of the perfect balance between extended voice and guitar, between written word and improvisation, thanks to the incredible and surprising voice of Petra Magoni and the guitar orchestra of Finaz. An unprecedented and unpredictable journey between heaven and earth, always with bated breath.

Petra Magoni
Both classically trained and a pop singer, Petra Magoni (born in Pisa, Italy on July 28, 1972) studied at the Livorno Conservatorio and Milan's Istituto Pontificio di Musica Sacra. Her first important experiences in the rock field were with the band Senza Freni, with which she took part in the 1995 edition of the Arezzo Wave festival.

In 1996 and 1997, she participated in the Sanremo Music Festival with the songs "E Ci Sei" and "Voglio un Dio," and in the same years she released her first two albums, Petra Magoni and Mulini a Vento. In 1997 she took part in a theatrical tour with comedy actor Giorgio Panariello, guesting also in his movie Bagnomaria and its soundtrack.

Then, with the pseudonym of Artepal, she recorded some dance tracks (one of them, "Don't Give Up," was used as the soundtrack of a Sasch TV commercial), collaborating in the meantime with jazz musicians such as her future husband Stefano Bollani and Ares Tavolazzi.

In 2000, under the moniker of SweetAnima, she released an album of the same name, including songs from Lucio Battisti's English repertoire. After some other theatrical experience, in 2003 she started Musica Nuda, a successful collaboration with Avion Travel's double bass player, Ferruccio Spinetti.

Musica Nuda, the first album of the duo -- although they consider themselves to be a "band" -- was released in 2003 to huge critical acclaim. Composed of jazz-tinged renditions of classics of the Italian and international pop tradition (such as the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby," Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," and Fred Buscaglione's "Guarda Che Luna") rearranged for double bass and voice only, the record sold more than 15,000 copies in Italy and a similar number in the rest of Continental Europe.

Its follow-up, the double CD Musica Nuda 2 (2006), composed of more cover versions in the same vein, confirmed the success of the duo, who at the end of 2006 also released a collection of sacred hymns, Quam Dilecta, followed in 2007 by the live album Live à Fip, recorded in France.

In the meantime, Magoni started a more electro-pop-oriented project called Aromatic with Giampaolo Antoni; the group's eponymous debut was released in 2004. In 2007, together with Monica Demuru, Paolo Benvegnù, and Ares Tavolazzi, Magoni released Cime Domestiche, a collection of traditional alpine women's songs. (AMG)

Alessandro Finazzo
was born in Volterra on August 10, 1969, and began his musical career at the age of 9, falling in love with the guitar thanks to the music of the Beatles. He began studying classical guitar and then moved on to jazz at the "Centro Attività Musicali" school in Florence. At 13, he began playing in dance bands to earn his first income; at 15, he discovered the rock music of Hendrix and formed his first bands, performing in Tuscan venues and at small competitions.

After finishing high school, he enrolled in the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Pisa, where he graduated with honors with a thesis on Martin Heidegger. In 1996, he married Raffaella, with whom he has a son, Jacopo.

During college, Finazzo continued to play and met Francesco Magnelli, then an arranger and collaborator with Litfiba. An intense collaboration was born, leading him to Andrea Chimenti's tour, where he played with Gianni Maroccolo (formerly of Litfiba) and Enrico Greppi. This sparked a friendship and collaboration with Enrico, which led to the founding of Bandabardò in early 1993. This marked the true beginning of his career, which led him to perform on stages in Italy and abroad, both with Bandabardò and with numerous artists with whom he collaborated.

In September 2010, Finaz won the Insound Trophy as best Italian acoustic guitarist of 2010.

Alongside his work as a guitarist, he also works as an artistic producer and composer of soundtracks: as a producer, he has overseen the work of Folkabbestia, Working Vibes, Peppe Voltarelli, with whom he won the 2010 Tenco Award, and Porto Flamingo. He has written films such as "Tempo 3" with Daniele Silvestri for the film "Cuori al verde," the song "Distratto ma però" with Voltarelli for the film "Escape from the Call Center," and, again with Voltarelli, the soundtrack for "Tatanka," directed by Giuseppe Gagliardi and based on a book by Roberto Saviano.

His first solo album, "Guitar Solo," was released in 2012, followed by "GuitaRevolution" in 2015. His third solo album, "Cicatrici," was released in 2021.
