Info for Barbara

Barbara's music and songs: Marie-Claude Pietragalla, renowned dancer and choreographer, transforms herself on stage to embody the legendary singer Barbara. In this masterful show, she becomes the living reflection of the musical icon, transporting the audience into the singer's poetic and melancholic world.

Through every movement, every gesture, and every expression, Pietragalla reveals the depth of emotion that marked Barbara's music. Her dance becomes a vibrant language, translating the artist's iconic lyrics and melodies.

Memories, joys, and sorrows materialize in every step, offering the audience a unique visual and emotional experience.

One October evening at the Châtelet. Unforgettable! An artist's dressing room... Her hand in mine, this wild, enigmatic presence.

"On stage, she flies, she soars. From her piano to her rocking chair, she savors every moment, every breath, the silence of a hall vibrating in unison. Her slender silhouette dressed in black, her gait like a ballerina on demi-pointe, she observes her audience, an audience won over in advance.

She breathes on stage hours before the curtain rises, taking the pulse of a fantasized, loved, desired audience... The stage is her refuge where all boundaries disappear, darkness becomes light, time breaks down, and the realities of life are transformed in the chiaroscuro of the spotlights.

Barbara knows that details make the difference, that going on stage is a joy and a pain, leaving it a heartbreak. But already, it's time to hit the road again for a new adventure, a new blank page to color, the exhilaration of feeling alive

The musical notes draw a score where sighs dance, where silences dance. Barbara pierced my soul with her whispers and transformed my daily life into poetry." (Marie-Claude Pietragalla)

Marie-Claude Pietragalla, vocals

Marie-Claude Pietragalla
joined the Paris Opera Ballet at the age of 16 and was appointed prima ballerina from 1990 to 1998. At the same time, she performed in contemporary dance and eventually became a choreographer. In 2004, she and dancer Julien Derouault founded the Théâtre du Corps, a place where all forms of dance come together. The artist, who has worked with the greatest choreographers and dancers (Maurice Béjart, Rudolf Nureyev, Patrick Dupont, etc.), is an artistic reference on the international stage. An eclectic artist, she is also open to other disciplines. Among other things, she has performed in a play by and with Eric Emmanuel Schmitt.
