Info for Deserts

Outlaw country and Americana singer-songwriter Wyatt Lowe releases his highly anticipated new studio album, Deserts.

Following a prolific string of 2026 singles including “Sundown,” “The Road Back to You,” and his latest track “Stay,” Deserts is a deeply personal project about confronting the past, shattering illusions, and finding a clear way forward. The album beautifully blends gritty Americana storytelling, classic rock attitude, and deep-seated country roots.

"Rather than following a strict industry formula, this record is built entirely around an authentic mood and raw, band-driven energy," Lowe shared. The leading single "Stay" perfectly encapsulates this sonic evolution—reshaped over time into a momentum-building anthem driven by a powerful rhythm section and soaring guitar work.

“Back in the day, the blues was the real deal, and it had soul, and there were the greats playing it,” says blues guitarist Wyatt Lowe, who was still in middle school when he began playing in local venues.

Lowe is both comfortable and credible in his role as a frontman, and he knows his way around blues chords and blues scales and appears to be able to solo endlessly in long streams and phrases that contain well-oiled quotes to many of the greats.

“We had a barbecue and blues restaurant in Temecula [Chappy’s Road House] when Wyatt was born,” says Lowe’s mom Cheryl. “Wyatt grew up listening to Billy Watson and Robin Henkel. He was three years old and he’d stand by the side of the stage and watch, mesmerized. We wondered if something was wrong with him. But no. He was just soaking it in.”

His backup band the Youngbloods has included drummer Jaxon Blinn (son of Scottie Blinn, formerly of the Mississippi Mudsharks, and now fronting Black Market III) and bassist Connor Patlan.

Lowe is something of a product of the Blues Lovers United of San Diego (BLUSD) Summer Blues Camp, where he brushed up against blues stalwarts such as Anson Funderburgh and Kim Wilson. “We worked for two months, on the fundamentals,” Lowe says, “of what a blues player should know.”

But young guys playing the blues? Why not indie, or punk? “I don’t think we picked blues out,” says drummer Jaxon Blinn. “It started out that way. I’m really into electronica, but I’m the only one in the band who is.”

“The music we do?” says bassist Patlan. “It’s someone else’s, but we put out own vibe on it.”

Wyatt Lowe’s parents eventually left Temecula for Encinitas. They now run Chappy’s Roadshow BBQ and Catering, which is how they met Scottie Blinn, who became the Youngbloods’ coach. “We catered one of his events at the Summer Blues Camp,” says Patrick Lowe.

Both Lowe and Patlan attended San Marcos high school, while Blinn attended High Tech High School, in Point Loma. In July 2013, the Lowe family, longtime Temecula residents, announced they would be relocating to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

By 2016, he had formed Wyatt Lowe and the Mayhem Kings and announced plans to relocate to Los Angeles.

Wyatt Lowe has shared the stage with acts such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Derek Trucks, BB King and Chris Isaak to name a few, and has developed a sound that is distinct and developed for a young chap that has guitars older than himself. Being trained and taken under the wing of some of the country‰Ûªs finest blues musicians (Scottie Blinn [Missisippi Mudsharks], Anson Funderburgh, and Kim Wilson [The Fabulous Thunderbirds]), Lowe is clearing the highway for the Mayhem Kings to role through and take each city by storm. The revival of rock & roll music is here with the Mayhem Kings to show the world, and in the words of Bob Seger, rock and roll never forgets and neither can we.
