„The other day I heard Cyril Huvé a student of mine. He played the Busoni Carmen Fantasy very well. And I thought: Why don’t I play it? I adore it! It’s a piece that I used to play a lot. And I forgot completely about it. There were idiotic prejudices – not that I myself had these prejudices, but audiences and intellectuals were against anything that was a transcription. So I stopped playing it. It would be very, very easy to pick up again. And the Indianisches Tagebuch – That’s a marvelous piece!“ (Claudio Arrau)
