Info for Nothing Left to Deconstruct
Following the well received 2018 debut album, From Presence to Silence, the new record Nothing Left to Deconstruct for Willowtip retains the core elements of memorable melodies, unconventional song structures and post-metal atmospheric soundscapes, yet pushes the songwriting and arrangements to a whole new level.
The title of the album refers to the concept that there are no further layers of meaning or interpretation to uncover, which is actually loaded with meaning. It has a dark grey haze to it that you just can’t see through, and some of its mysteries remain unrevealed. Darkness isn’t sufficient of a word to describe the sound either. On face value, all of the varied elements and dual vocal styles shouldn’t mix together as easily as they do. It’s like Novocaine…give it some time, it will always work. For me, it’s on the cusp of recent forward movement in the progressive post metal genre.
"No sooner do you think you’ve ‘got’ Loneshore than they change tack. The Brazilians throw in one twist after another without diluting their songwriting. Their skilful interplay of melancholy and monstrosity demands patience, no question, but it pays off twofold and threefold. ‘Nothing Left To Deconstruct’ builds on this in terms of progressive complexity and deepens the stark contrasts between death doom and post-metal, melody and elemental force. Sure, it demands a fair bit of patience at first, but it really grabs hold of you and gets better, bigger and more shattering with every listen. Loneshore are definitely a band to watch."
