Info for 2²
On Blattwerk's new album, you can hear original arrangements of Ludwig van Beethoven (Ode to joy, Adagio from Pathétique, etc.), Gerog Friedrich Händel (Concerto Grosso No. 6) or Gioachino Rossini (Barber of Seville), among others. And of course saxophonists have a very special relationship with jazz. Sonny Rollins' "Doxy" or Antônio Carlos Jobim's "Agua de Beber" bear witness to this preference. Guest musicians: Mehri Isakova (harpsichord) and Eddi Kleinschnittger (percussion).
Alban Hauser, soprano saxophone
Timur Isakov, alto saxophone, clarinet
Hartmut Salzmann, tenor saxophone
Ivan Jones, baritone saxophone
Guets:
Mehri Isakova, harpsichord
Eddi Kleinschnittger, percussion
Blattwerk
Concert tours took the musicians to Asia and into Europe. The motto: Four friends, four saxophones. Two of the four Blattwerk players (Hartmut Salzmann and Bernd Stich) were founding members of the “Quintessence Saxophone Quintet” – for more than a decade they dominated the ensemble. In Timur Isakov and Alban Hauser they found a congenial partner in making the quartet complete and enriched it with his wonderful alto sax sound. In 2020 Ivan Jones (Bariton Saxophone) joined the ensemble and took over the Baritone part from Bernd Stich.
