Bella Voce is the select women’s ensemble at Baylor University. Organized in 2011 by Dr. Lynne Gackle, members of Bella Voce are music majors as well as non-majors, representing various disciplines from nursing to business. The ensemble performs a wide and interesting variety of choral selections, reflecting various style periods and genres from the vast choral repertoire featuring women’s voices. Baylor Bella Voce has been featured on multiple releases and special concerts, as well as at the SW Division of the American Choral Directors Association, throughout the state of Texas, and nationally. On this, the ensemble’s second album, the selections are a stunning and complex presentation of classic and modern pieces, from Mendelssohn to some of the most brilliant new choral composers on the scene today, sung by one of the finest women’s ensembles in the nation, collegiate or professional.

Baylor Bella Voce
is a highly selective women’s ensemble comprised primarily of undergraduate and graduate music majors, but is also open to non-music majors. Bella Voce performs a wide and interesting variety of choral selections reflecting various style periods and genres from the vast repertoire written specifically for women’s voices. The ensemble performs on campus at the Family Weekend Concert, Fall and Spring Concerts, a Baylor Christmas, and the Armstrong Browning Christmas Concerts. In addition to recording, the ensemble performs in the community, across the state, and nationally. Most recently, the were invited to perform at the American Choral Directors Association Southwest Division Conference in 2018. Baylor Bella Voce is one of the premier touring ensembles in the School of Music.

Lynne Gackle
is Professor of Ensembles and conducts Baylor Bella Voce, Baylor Concert Choir, teaches choral conducting, choral literature and serves as the Director of the Ensemble Division. Prior to her Baylor appointment, Lynne taught at the University of South Florida, University of Mississippi and the University of Miami (FL). She received her education from Louisiana State University (BME) and the University of Miami (MM/PhD). Lynne is an active choral clinician and conductor, nationally and internationally. She has held various positions within the American Choral Directors Association, including President, Southern Division and ACDA-Florida and is currently the TCDA-VP of Collegiate/Community Choirs. Gackle is the editor of Choral Artistry for the Singer (Walton Music/GIA) and the Lynne Gackle Choral Series (Colla Voce). Internationally recognized for her research on the female adolescent voice, Lynne is the author of Finding Ophelia’s Voice, Opening Ophelia’s Heart in addition to contributing-author for other books published by GIA, Oxford, and Hal Leonard/McGraw Hill. Gackle was awarded Baylor’s Outstanding Faculty Award in Research (2012). She holds memberships in ACDA, TMEA, TCDA, and NATS.
