Info for Short Stories, Vol. 1

Ricky Ross, lead singer, songwriter and founder of multimillion album selling group Deacon Blue follows the release of 2016's “Believers”, the band's most successful studio album in 23 years and “Live at The Glasgow Barrowlands” the recently released UK Number 1 Music DVD, with a solo album and tour, “Short Stories Vol. 1”. The album was recorded over two days at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg and had its sumptuous strings and choir added back in Glasgow. It finds Ricky Ross playing brand new songs, revisiting well-known Deacon Blue tracks and other less well known songs from throughout his 30 year career as one of Britain's best loved songwriters. The idea of the album will be further developed on the just announced extensive Autumn tour, with Ricky at the piano, playing special venues across the UK, Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands, presenting his songs and telling stories about what has influenced his songwriting from across his entire career. In Ricky's own words: "This album is like a souvenir of my solo shows, which are a very different beast to Deacon Blue live. They're intimate, minimal, a chance for me to revisit songs that started out life with just piano and vocals and take them back to their roots, as well as play some new songs inspired by recent times."
