Info for When Marty Met Gyafi & Zoli
"I am happy the way the music came out! Everything was done spontaneously: simple arrangements of standard tunes with the emphasis on interplay.Gyafi has the capability to blend in every musical situation and when it is time to solo he shines with his typical dry boppish sound. I have a slightly brighter sound and although we have the same influences in our background, we sound totally different in my opinion. And the mighty Zoli keeps it all together with his strong foundation and involved solos! All in all a very pleasant experience with two people that I call my friends!" (Martien Oster)
Martien Oster is permanent member of the Vincent Herring Quartet. He has recorded albums with Dr. Lonnie Smith & Diana Krall, among others. He moved to Budapest a couple of weeks ago to help one of his sons with his studies. Whilst here, he has found himself absorbed by the exciting jazz scene in Budapest.

Martien Oster
After his studies in the USA and in the course of 35 years, Martien performed and recorded with a variety of outstanding jazz players: Monty Alexander, Red Holloway, Diana Krall (her first record!) and Dr. Lonnie Smith. In 2016 he toured Europe with legend Larry Coryell who described Martien’s playing as intelligent and soulful. In 2019 hammond organ player Mike le Donne and Vincent Herring joined Martien for a new edition of ‘Original Grooves’ playing the major clubs in
Germany and Holland. Martien’s style of playing is clearly rooted in the jazz tradition but at the same time he is always looking for adventure!
