Info for Joanne Bird Live

Joanne Bird is a Dutch singer-songwriter. She creates indie and Americana folk music with a touch of jazz. With songs about the everyday ups and downs and vulnerabilities, set to stylish arrangements, she takes the audience on a personal and musical journey.

After completing her Master of Music, Joanne spent five months travelling through all the major music cities of the United States to find inspiration for writing new music and performing. Along the way, she met established musicians in Nashville, New York, Boston and New Jersey, with whom she has since performed regularly and entered the studio. Bird draws much inspiration from her travels to the US, and this is clearly evident in her music. Her third EP, titled Unusual Fairytales, was recorded in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and has been available since May 2025.

Since the release of the music video for her track Angel, Joanne has been supported by C.F. Martin & Company (Martin Guitar). In recent months, Joanne has had the privilege of opening for acts including Steph Strings (AUS), the Billy Walton Band (US) and Viv & Riley (US).

Joanne Bird
Wanderlust. That's what Dutch singer-songwriter Joanne Bird shapes and distinguishes herself with. She embraces life as a musical journey of discovery. It took her from the Netherlands to the US, where she drew inspiration from artists such as James Taylor and First Aid Kit. She found her passion in formative collaborations with established musicians in Nashville, New York, Boston, and New Jersey, four “capitals” in America's musical canon. The result is personal indie & Americana folk music that slowly but surely, and very comfortably, nestles in your heart. In her live performances, Joanne Bird takes you by the hand and lets you experience her musical journey as if you were there yourself. After completing her Master of Music degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2023, Bird spent months traveling through all the major music cities of the United States to find inspiration, record, and perform. Along the way, she gathered a group of musical friends with whom she now regularly performs and records. Her third EP, titled 'Unusual Fairytales', was recorded in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and released in May 2025. Some musical highlights from Bird's career include being endorsed by Martin Guitar, her sync collaborations with MAD Records, Warner Chappell, and Primary Wave Music, and opening for artists such as Steph Strings (AUS), Billy Walton Band (US), and The Cinelli Brothers (UK). She is also a Voting Member for the Recording Academy (New York Chapter). At the age of five, Joanne Bird began playing piano, followed by singing and guitar. She further developed herself during her Bachelor at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg, and during the Master of Music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In addition, she studied several times in New York City. Joanne has received vocal coaching over the years from Lucy Woodward, Jim Mola, Machan Taylor, Sofie Dirkx, and Marle Thomson, among others.

“Watching her play, I was gobsmacked. I was like… how am I gonna go on stage after them. The storytelling, the guitar, I just thought it was incredible.” — Steph Strings

“Joanne's style can be described as Americana with a light jazzy touch. Think James Taylor. Her compositions are strong, reflective lyrics set to appealing melodies.” — New Folk Sounds
