Info for These Days

These Days is a 12-song album from Texas country artist Clay Dubose, ending with Garth Hudson of The Band on piano and accordion accompanying Dubose in a reading of Bob Dylan's "I Threw It All Away." Released in 2005.

The second release from Texas singer/songwriter Clay DuBose has a retro late 80's/early 90's feel to it. The opening track "Long Lonely Life" is a George Strait style honky tonk tune, while several tracks ("These Days," "No Accident" and "Street Sage") recall some of the early work of Dwight Yoakam.

The Mavericks are another apparent influence with the ballad "Captivated" and the Tex-Mex flavored "Life Of The Party." DuBose is also effective with a pop ballad style on "She Cries" and "Crack In The Armor." The San Antonion wrote or co-wrote all but 1 of the 12 tunes here. He closes with an impressive rendition of Bob Dylan's "I Threw It All Away," featuring Garth Hudson (The Band) on piano.

Other prominent players are guitarist Will Ray (Hellcasters), keyboardists Augie Meyers (Texas Tornados) and Rami Jaffe (The Wallflowers), and bassist/engineer Dusty Wakefield (Yoakam, Lucinda Williams). Also on hand are The Derailers (guitarist Brian Hofeldt, bassist Ed Adkins, drummer Scott Mathews and keyboardist Sweet Basil McJagger) who will back DuBose on an upcoming tour.
