Info for Violoncello Italiano (Werke von J. M. Dall’Abaco, L. Dallapiccola, L. Boccherini und C. A. Piatti)
Hailing from Brescia, cellist Paolo Bonomini offers a survey of 200 years of musical Italy on his GENUIN debut release. The First Prizewinner at the 2016 Leipzig Bach Competition performs works by Joseph Dall'Abaco, Luigi Boccherini, Alfredo Piatti, and Luigi Dallapiccola. In terms of the program, we could hardly imagine a more rich and varied overview, and the young, internationally-successful soloist’s playing more than fulfills our expectations – from his lean and buoyant sound in the playful and exuberant Baroque works, to his crystal-clear articulation and bold risk-taking in the modern selections. A brilliant and highly promising debut!

Paolo Bonomini
Following his solo debut at the age of 15, the Brescian-born cellist Paolo Bonomini quickly established himself as a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. As winner of the first prize at the XX. International J.S. Bach Competition in Leipzig, Paolo has gone on to perform across Europe, South America and Australia.
He has studied with Mario Brunello, Antonio Meneses and Jens Peter Maintz and received further training from Giovanni Sollima, Enrico Dindo and David Geringas.
As a soloist, Paolo has been invited to perform with numerous orchestras, including the Orchestra del Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo, the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Virtuosi di Praga, the Odessa Chamber Orchestra, the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Bern and the Pauliner Kammerorchester.
Alongside his solo activities, Paolo is also the cellist of the Boccherini Trio. This spirited and upcoming string trio, which has been coached by Rainer Schmidt and Hatto Beyerle, gave its debut performance at the Wigmore Hall in early 2016. Paolo frequently performs on the Italian national radio RAI 3 and has given concerts together with Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna, Franco Petracchi and Giovanni Sollima in some of the most notable theatres in Italy, including the Teatro Comunale Ponchielli, Teatro Olimpico, Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro Carlo Felice, Teatro La Fenice and various other venues.
Paolo has been a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and has served as guest principal cellist with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, Camerata Bern and Camerata Salzburg and has performed under the direction of Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Daniele Gatti, Herbert Blomstedt, Sir Roger Norrington and Riccardo Muti.
