Detailed, dynamic, organic and natural sounding, "Almost There" was recorded and mixed at Propeller Music Division in Oslo, Espen’s studio of choice for the last five studio albums. And for good reason, they truly sound amazing, no wonder they are frequently used in tests and highlighted in HiFi circles.

With its highly melodic and lyrical instrumental pieces and its ‘less is more’ approach, the Espen Eriksen Trio is often credited with having a unique voice on today’s jazz scene. After 18 years, seven albums and worldwide tours, the trio is more in tune than ever and has achieved an almost telepathic rapport. Espen Eriksen
is a Norwegian composer and pianist, born in 1974, known for leading the Espen Eriksen Trio, a popular European jazz piano trio that performs with a melodic and minimalist style. The trio, which also includes bassist Lars Tormod Jenset and drummer Andreas Bye, has released several acclaimed albums on the Rune Grammofon label and tours internationally. Eriksen also has a long-standing collaboration with British saxophonist Andy Sheppard, which has resulted in multiple albums and tours. Espen appears with Haftor Medbøe Scandinavian Group and on the 2015 trio recording The Space Between (Losen Records) with Medbøe and Gunnar Halle.

was formed in 2007 and released their debut album in 2010. After 19 years, eight albums and regular touring on four continents, the trio is tighter than ever and have reached an almost telepathic level of interplay. Espen Eriksen Trio is becoming an increasingly popular live act, with a wealth of rich material on their repertoire all signed pianist Eriksen. The music relies on highly melodic and lyrical instrumentals and a “less is more” approach and is often credited for its unique voice within today’s jazz scene by the international press.

BBC describes the trio as «superb musicians at the top of their game» and Stuart Nicholson in Jazzwise concludes that Espen Eriksen trio have "one of the most unified, individual and recognizable group sounds in European jazz".

In 2016 Espen Eriksen Trio started their ongoing collaboration with British sax star Andy Sheppard, resulting in the two studio albums and multiple tours.
