Info for Les gens d'içi
Patrick Abrial and Jean-Yves Hellou have worked together for a decade as troubadours of rock and romance. They spread their good humour and pretty songs to connoisseurs. Patrick Abrial's crooner's voice conveys infinite tenderness, his fine grain conveys emotion, his very own phrasing is more than charming, it's irresistible. Jye's music and electric guitar blend skilfully with Patrick's sensitive voice and guitar playing, subtly punctuating or enhancing the melody.
The singer and composer Patrick Abrial left his mark on the 70s.
With folk ballads and top titles such as Chanson pour Marie and Fétiche. Over time, his music evolved into chanson à texte and gradually flirted with progressive rock, as in the album Condamné amour. Today, he can be heard as an electric duo, accompanied by Jean-Yves Hellou on guitar, known as Jye, a virtuoso guitarist and composer influenced by blues, rock and Celtic music. The musical universe of Patrick Abrial and Jye is somewhere between Pink Floyd, blues and Jacques Brel.
The thirteen tracks on the album include three cover versions: Marie Jeanne by Bobby Gentry (a French version of which Joe Dassin made a name for himself), Sixteen Tons by Merle Travis, and Walk the Line by Johnny Cash, sung in English by Abrial with a certain sensuality. The other songs are written by Patrick and played by Jye. They are full of tangible humanity and depth, defending the values of freedom and truth that are so lacking in today's inhuman society. If I haven't whetted your appetite enough, take a look at this clip, it'll convince you. A great tour is in the offing, starting in the spring, with this sensitive programme that leaves room for a few heartfelt rants that our two artists have the secret of.
