The Klaviertrio Hannover lands a real coup with its world premiere recording of three piano trios by the composer Emilie Mayer, who has long received too little attention! The works, newly discovered by the ensemble's pianist Katharina Sellheim and specially edited by the trio based on manuscripts, rank with the great piano trios of the 19th century. They are works by a composer whose symphonies were performed throughout Europe in the mid-19th century and whose work secured her a firm place in the contemporary music world. Through its editorial work and inspired interpretation of these three trios, the Hannover Piano Trio provides an essential piece of the puzzle to complete our understanding of the Romantic era!

Klaviertrio Hannover

Klaviertrio Hannover
With its rousing and captivating play and multifacated programs, the Hanover Piano Trio delights press and audiences at home and abroad. After celebrated concerts in the Elbphilharmonie, the ensemble recorded the renowned CD Ludwig van Beethoven: The Piano Quartets (GENUIN/SWR) together with Konstantin Sellheim (viola). With great passion the Piano Trio Hannover also dedicates itself to unknown works.

The trios by Emilie Mayer, rediscovered by the ensemble’s pianist, were performed for the first time on November 25, 2021, in cooperation with NDR. They are first recorded on this CD and published as sheet music by Furore-Verlag.

Katharina Sellheim
is a passionate chamber musician and was engaged by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau as a Lied accompanist for the concerts of his master classes. Since then, she has been a guest at international festivals such as the Beethoven-Fest Bonn, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Heidelberger Frühling and Saksa Kevad in Finland.

Katharina Sellheim is a piano partner of renowned artists and regularly gives guest performances at the Elbphilharmonie, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and the Gasteig Munich. She performs in the Duo Sellheim with her brother Konstantin (Munich Philharmonic) and in the Sellheim-Kuti-Trio with László Kuti (solo clarinetist of the Munich Philharmonic).

Her CDs Fantasy, Fairy Tales and Skylla and Charybdis have been highly acclaimed by the press and the public. Her performances have been recorded by NDR, WDR, SWR and hr. Katharina Sellheim is a lecturer at master classes in Germany and abroad and at the Barenboim-Said Center for Music in Ramallah. In addition, the pianist is involved in Rhapsody in School and her music education project Beethoven reloaded.
