Orford Six Pianos: Volume 2 is the second recording by the ensemble, making the group’s 10th anniversary.; The ensemble’s name, Orford Six Pianos, pays homage to the 20th century French composers known as “Les Six.”; Olivier Godin, Francis Perron, and Louis Dominique Roy have transcribed the compositions on this album for piano sextet. The recording features works by Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and Khachaturian.; Ensemble member Mariane Patenaude says of the album, “Anything rhythmic works well with this lineup – Russian music and symphonic pieces are perfect for pianos.”

Founded in 2006, Orford Six Pianos continues to seduce its audiences with dynamic new arrangements of the classic orchestral repertoire as well as original compositions. The works on this album are arranged by Francis Perron, Louis Dominique Roy and Olivier Godin. Pianists Sandra Murray, Claire Ouellet, Mariane Patenaude, Francis Perron, Pamela Reimer and Louis Dominique Roy take virtuosity and partnership to new heights. This unique ensemble regularly presents concerts in Québec and elsewhere in Canada, where they have been met with great enthusiasm by the public and the critics. They take their name from the Orford Arts Centre, where they have performed several times, with other performances at the Lanaudière Festival, the Festival of the sound in Parry Sound, Music and Beyond Festival in ottawa, the Lachine Festival of Music, and in Québec with the Québec Symphony Orchestra. Orford Six Pianos celebrates its tenth anniversary with this second album, devoted to Russian masterworks.
