Info for Hope In A Manger

"Hope In A Manger" marks the group’s first Christmas album in two decades.

To commemorate the release of Hope In A Manger, Gold City will present an exciting Christmas musical evening on November 19th at the historic Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tennessee. Gold City, Singing News TV CEO Scott Godsey and New Haven Records President Ken Harding have announced the exciting news that the Singing News TV Channel will be filming this monumental evening to air exclusively on the network in mid-December.

With Hope In A Manger, Gold City captures the true spirit of Christmas with traditional carols, modern classics and brand-new songs that are sure to become holiday favorites. The recording, co-produced by Cliff Duren and long-time group member, Danny Riley, includes standards like “O Holy Night,” “Silent Night” and “White Christmas.” Additionally, the project features new renditions of classics like “I Pray On Christmas” and “Jesus, The Light Of The World,” as well as songs destined to become new favorites like “Something’s Happening,” “How Many Kings” and “Born This Happy Morning.”

“I’m very excited about Hope In A Manger,” states Danny Riley. “We have not recorded a Christmas album in 20 years, so we wanted this one to be very special. I feel like the song selections and the arrangements by Cliff Duren are exactly what we wanted to say with this project, and the guys held nothing back vocally. We are equally excited to have Singing News Television recording the album release concert at the Franklin Theater on November 19th, and will air in mid-December. We hope it’s a blessing to all this Christmas season!”

Gold City

Gold City
Since 1980, gospel music fans worldwide have been in love with the trend-setting style of Gold City. From their inception, this quartet’s goal has been to use the musical gifts the Lord has given them in the best way they know how—to honor God, share the gospel message, witness to the lost and encourage the saved.

With 12 number one songs, multiple radio hits, and numerous industry accolades, this Dove Award-winning quartet has achieved legendary status. With number one songs in each of the past five decades and over 60 Singing News Fan Awards to their credit, their career continues to be one that is celebrated, respected, and relevant in today’s musical scene. Historically, they have introduced some of the most important songs to all of gospel music, including I’m Not Giving Up, It’s Still The Cross, When I Get Carried Away, and their signature song, Midnight Cry. They had the number one radio chart single in 2019 as noted by Singing News Magazine, All My Hope. In 2017, Gold City was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame, forever solidifying what thousands of loyal gospel music followers already know—Gold City will forever be the standard of excellence for gospel quartets.

At the helm of Gold City is Danny Riley. His outstanding baritone voice, emcee ability and leadership make up the foundation of this quartet that is carrying on the legacy established by his father, Hall of Fame bass vocalist Tim Riley. Joining Danny in the present-day group lineup are three seasoned veterans who, like Danny, all grew up loving Gold City and hoping to one day sing in this stellar quartet. They bring with them a passion for Jesus and this music, along with their outstanding vocal abilities. Josh Feemster brings a powerful lead vocal to this group, as well as a stage energy that is infectious and exciting. Chris Jenkins’ tenor voice is well recognized as one of the best in the industry. His love for this music is felt in every note he sings. Jeff Chapman studied with the aforementioned Tim Riley and his legendary voice puts the finishing touches on this quartet’s amazing sound. The four vocalists are joined by Terry Wooten on keyboard, who accompanies these singers with his tasteful piano work, complimenting the vocals with just the right touch.

As Gold City moves into the future, it is clear this group is in good hands and good voices, as folks everywhere are discovering night after night. The hit songs, the outstanding vocals, and the class and professionalism that have always been still are, unmistakably, Gold City.
