Info for The Autumn Stone (Expanded Collector's Edition Remastered 2025)
Newly mastered! For fans of band’s from the 1960’s hearing the discovery of original reel to reel tapes of cherished recordings emerging from archived haunts, dusty attics or purchased via auction with a pending release of the recordings is not only celebrated like completing a never ending marathon.
Maybe overly deserving of such a treasure trove audio find is The Small Faces. Since the demise of Andrew Loog Oldham’s Immediate Records the original tapes of their hallowed recordings have seemingly gone from pillar to post until sole surviving member drummer Kenney Jones and a team of researchers managed to capture the tapes for what we now have is the definitive reissue of The Autumn Stone.
“What I really like about this new deluxe edition is the Small Faces finally get to have an input. Immediate originally rushed out ‘The Autumn Stone’ compilation after we’d split into the Faces & Humble Pie. And no one spotted the big mistake on the cover or that songs had been left off! I’ve added an unreleased track and versions newly mixed that have never been heard before, a whole side of acoustic mixes that showcase Steve Marriott’s incredible voice, one side of live songs newly mastered to vinyl at the correct speed & everything is remastered from original tapes, including the Decca tracks. I’ve added songs that me, Ronnie, Mac & Steve loved working on & I got to correct all the errors with the original sound. The box set looks incredible, with gold foil lettering, 3-LPs pressed on 180-gram autumn stone and gold vinyl. There’s a 68-page hardback book which has so much in it, including sleeve notes, interviews, track-by-track details, a feature on our ‘1862’ sessions & pages of rare memorabilia, original artwork & previously unseen photos by our wonderful photographers, including Gered Mankowitz. I’m so pleased Gered is working with me on the album he originally helped design. Which means after 55 years, he’s finally put the Small Faces name on the cover!” (Kenney Jones)
“The Autumn Stone is now more handsome, more informative & sweeter sounding, a worthier punctuation point to this brief, brilliant career” (Jim Irvin, MOJO)

Small Faces
were an English rock band formed in London in 1965. The original lineup comprised Steve Marriott on vocals and guitar, Ronnie Lane on bass and vocals, Kenney Jones on drums, and Jimmy Winston on keyboards, who was later replaced by Ian McLagan. The band quickly became one of the leading figures in the mod scene, known for their sharp style and energetic performances.
Their early music blended rhythm and blues with British beat sounds, producing hits like "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" and "Sha-La-La-La-Lee." As their music evolved, Small Faces began to explore more psychedelic and experimental directions, culminating in their critically acclaimed 1968 concept album *Ogden's Nut Gone Flake*. This album showcased their inventive songwriting, studio craftsmanship, and a whimsical sense of humor.
Despite their success and influence, tensions within the band led to Steve Marriott's departure in 1969, who went on to form Humble Pie. The remaining members later teamed up with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood to form Faces. Though their career as Small Faces was relatively short-lived, their impact on British rock was significant, influencing countless artists in the decades that followed.
Small Faces were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, a testament to their enduring legacy and contribution to 1960s rock music.
