Info for Nashville

Two of the most successful German artists of their respective generations. A collaborative album that hardly anyone saw coming. "Nashville" is the result of a deep bond that has grown over the years. Maffay and Oerding share a long-standing friendship—two kindred spirits united by mutual appreciation, musical respect, and a personal closeness that extends far beyond mere one-off joint performances.

Across 11 collaborative tracks, the two artists merge their musical roots—bridging the generational gap—and are subsequently bringing this special project to the stage together. Friendship turns into music; mutual respect becomes a shared sound; two life stories become an album that builds bridges—between rock and pop, Nashville and Germany, studio and stadium.

For fans of authentic country music, the location where the album was created is particularly interesting: the songs were recorded at the famous Blackbird Studio in Nashville. Maffay and Oerding were supported by outstanding musicians from the local studio scene. According to the duo, the recordings came together in just a few days—without lengthy preparation and with plenty of room for spontaneous ideas.

Anyone familiar with Johannes Oerding’s musical roots will hardly be surprised by this move. In recent years, the Hamburg-based singer-songwriter has frequently demonstrated his enthusiasm for American songwriting traditions. Peter Maffay, too, has looked beyond the boundaries of German-language rock for decades (notably with the 1977 project *Tame & Maffay*) and has consistently drawn inspiration from American music.

Peter Maffay & Johannes Oerding

Peter Maffay
With over 40 million records sold, Peter Maffay has been considered one of the most successful German rock musicians of all time—and a fixture in the charts and concert venues—for around four decades. The Transylvania-born artist has reached number one on the German charts with 12 albums—more top-ranking hits than any other domestic or international musician. In recent decades, his tours have drawn up to 700,000 spectators each. Peter Maffay also enjoys a high international reputation, particularly thanks to his "Begegnungen" (Encounters) concept tours and albums, which were created in collaboration with renowned artists from around the world. He has received numerous awards for his musical achievements as well as his political and charitable work; these include two Bambi awards, several ECHO awards, the World Vision Charity Award, and the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Johannes Oerding
first gained attention in 2009 while serving as the opening act on tours for the bands Simply Red and Ich + Ich, singer Nevio, and singers Ina Müller and Stefanie Heinzmann. This was followed by a sold-out solo tour and the release of his debut solo album, *Erste Wahl* (First Choice), on August 21, 2009; the album climbed to number 39 on the German charts. His second solo album, *Boxer*, was released on January 28, 2011, followed by his third, *Für immer ab jetzt* (Forever From Now On), on January 11, 2013.

On September 26, 2013, Oerding represented Hamburg at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2013, taking second place with the song "Nichts geht mehr." He performed the same song on the show *Inas Nacht* on January 12; this performance—along with nine other guest appearances—was released on the bonus CD *Inas kleine Nachtmusik*, which accompanied Ina Müller’s album *Ich bin die*. Additionally, Oerding served as the opening act for Joe Cocker’s "Fire It Up" tour in 2013 and appeared as a guest on the Scorpions’ "Unplugged" tour in 2014.

In 2015, Oerding was awarded a gold record in Germany for each of his albums *Für immer ab jetzt* and *Alles brennt*, recognizing sales of over 100,000 copies.
