Info for The World Was Bright
"The World Was Bright" is the debut album by jazz vocalist Tomas Eidsvåg. Together with John Pål Inderberg, Trygve Waldemar Fiske, and Håkon Mjåset Johansen, they form a chordless quartet that tackles jazz standards and more. Morten Qvenild features on keyboards on two of the tracks.
With a fantastic band backing him, vocalist Tomas Eidsvåg truly gets to let loose. We have an exciting meeting ahead of us as Eidsvåg celebrates his album debut with a tour across Norway, and thankfully, he is also stopping by the Jazz scene.
With what is practically the highly cohesive John Pål Inderberg Trio, they dive into jazz standards and provide us with new, fresh interpretations from this repertoire. In a warm and intimate sound world with solid jazz knowledge at its base, new spaces for nuances and spontaneity are created.
Male jazz vocalists are a rare commodity here, requiring a completely unique form of expressiveness and courage. With a strong, personal nerve, Tomas Eidsvåg stands out with a laid-back style and a significant improvisational surplus. Here you will find both cool jazz and newer songs from Jim O'Rourke and Bonnie "Prince" Billy, and we are confident that this music resonates well with a modern audience. Expect soft ballads and exhilarating solos, performed with playfulness, precision, and lots of energy.
