Info for From Then Til Now: The Remixes Vol. 1

"From Then Til Now" is a new beginning for Grammy Award Nominated songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Christopher Michael Stevens (trumpet, vocals, keyboards, production). It’s a story that’s been brewing over his entire life and is informed by many years of making music across numerous genres and generations with some of the best artists and musicians in the business. This life journey combines Jazz, Gospel, Pop and Poetry into an intimate collection of works through the lens of faith and hope.

Stevens brings in some of Philadelphia’s top musicians for collaborations on "From Then Til Now". The classically leaning and lush "Heart Strings" features James Poyser (The Roots, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo) on piano, album closer and party singalong anthem "Not Sure Yet (Perseverance)" features Eugene “Man Man” Roberts (John Legend, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg) on synthesizer and the breezy groove of "In the Heavens" has an all-star band of Jay Bratten, Brett Kinard, Marlon Lewis & Korey Riker. Fellow Spring Garden Records artist and former Artist-in-Residence Ben O’Neill (The Mini Q’s) features on "Daylight" and vocalist Shalyah J. Stevens dives into the R&B slow jam "Because It’s Monday (Hold On)" and the indie-infused ballad "Hills and Valleys".

Stevens flexes his gift for crafting immersive sonic journeys and seamlessly blending genres on "From Then Til Now". His trumpet and flugelhorn cut through the swirl of styles with a grounding presence—warm, steady, and unmistakably his own. It’s a testament to Stevens’ vision—not just as a performer, but also a composer who knows how to make experimentation feel both cohesive and deeply personal.

Christopher Michael Stevens

Christopher Michael Stevens
Camden native and Temple University graduate, Christopher Michael Stevens, has had a lifetime’s worth of career experiences that began when he was just a teenager. In his early days, he traveled the world with Sony Music recording artist, Tye Tribbett and G.A. as a member of the band Soundcheck. He has since gone on to perform with an array of award winning artists across several genres such as The Roots, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Darryl Hall, Michael McDonald, Eddie Levert, Earth, Wind & Fire and more.

Christopher is a Grammy Award ® nominated songwriter and an accomplished performer/arranger. He has credits on several dozen recordings including Diana Ross’ most recent album, “Thank You”. As a touring musician, Christopher has been around the world with artists such as John Legend and Eric Roberson. While those experiences are very rewarding, Christopher is a bandleader at heart. He founded two bands of his own, Vertical Current in 2009 and The Chris Stevens Quartet (CSQ) in 2015. They have a number of recordings available and new material in the works.

Additionally, his work in the world of film and television is expanding. He is finally realizing a childhood dream of composing music for as well as acting on the big screen. He has had on-screen roles in the highly decorated film “La La Land” and the Amazon original series “A League Of Their Own”. He also scored four feature films (Who Is Christmas Eve?, Love You Right: An R&B Type Musical, Walking On, and Lowest Places: Lost Time) and two short films. He can be heard as a featured soloist on the 2021 film “Really Love” as well as on the television shows “Cherish The Day” and “The Equalizer”.

Recently, Christopher completed his term as the “Artist-In-Residence” at The Community College Of Philadelphia, which is a special program hosted by Spring Garden Records. Participating in this program lead to the creation of, “From Then Til Now”, the debut album of Christopher Michael Stevens as a solo act. While this is his 10th album overall as a leader, this is the first true effort to establish himself as an artist. “From Then Til Now” is a story that’s been brewing his whole life and it’s informed by many years of making music across genres and generations with some of the best in the business. This collection of songs and performances combines Jazz, Gospel, Pop and Poetry from a perspective of faith and hope.
