Info for The Jimmy Wisner Sound

Jimmy Wisner was born in Philadelphia on December 8, 1931. By 1959 he had formed the Jimmy Wisner Trio with Chick Kinney and Ace Tsome. In 1961, following their first album, 'Blues for Harvey,' Wisner recorded 'Asia Minor,' which combined a melody from Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor with a rock 'n roll beat. After being turned down by numerous labels, Wisner set up his own label, Future Records, with record distributor Harry Chipetz and engineer, Amel Corset. They released 'Asia Minor' on their label and it was a huge hit. This success would lead Wisner into a career in pop music as a composer of film and television scores, as well as a session musician and as an arranger/producer.
