Info for Pas de bourrée
Copenhagen-based early music ensemble Camerata Øresund takes a musical voyage throughout baroque Europe on their debut recording Pas de bourrée . Suites of dances by Campra, Roman and Purcell alternate with concertos by Bach and Vivaldi and a programme work by Telemann. A theme of travel and journeying unites these pieces. Camerata Øresund cannot keep their feet still even in the most virtuoso of concertos. They dance an energetic "pas de bourrée" to the Allegro of Bach's Harpsichord Concerto, whilst the slow movement from Vivaldi's L’estro armonico is transformed into a hypnotic Sarabande. Pas de bourrée is a colourful kaleidoscope of moods, emotions, characters and stories. Camerata Øresund remains true to their promise that everything they touch will turn into a dance.
Camerata Öresund
Camerata Öresund
is a vibrant group of authentic baroque musicians. Founded in 2010 by violinist Peter Spissky (Concerto Copenhagen), the group’s members are drawn from the Øresund region of southern Sweden and eastern Denmark – areas linked by the Øresund bridge featured in the TV drama “Broen”. Camerata’s debut concert series was called “Bach on the Bridge”, referring to the Øresund bridge which connects Camerata’s musicians and audiences.
Camerata Øresund has unearth buried repertoire including the discovery of an unknown Vivaldi concerto and of violin concertos by Ræhs. The group has also taken up innovative performance concepts such as staged portraits of composers, large choral works and thematic concerts for children. The group has always been a platform for the region’s rising-star baroque musicians and singers with the Swedish harpsichord virtuoso Marcus Mohlin and the Danish soprano Eline Soelmark belonging to the core of the ensemble.
Camerata Øresund is closely associated with the Næstved Early Music Festival (Denmark) and gave performances with Jordi Savall and Nicholas Mulroy at the 2016 festival. For the 2018 edition Camerata Øresund and Peter Spissky produced staged opera performances of Vivaldi’s ‘ll Giustino’ with the Italian stage director Deda Cristina Colonna.
In recent years, Camerata Øresund’s concert activities have included regular appearances at festivals and concert venues in Denmark, Sweden and Iceland. Their signature performances at the KoncertKirken in Copenhagen continue to draw the attention of a wide audience.
