Info for In Session: Live at The Church Studio (Live)

The Church Studio In Session series is an exclusive and immersive recording and listening experience where guests are provided with individual headphones delivering a personalized mix of vocals and multi-track instrumentation. Acclaimed composer, guitarist, and sonic visionary Chris Combs kicked off this series, bringing together a handpicked ensemble of dynamic players for the session, including Hank Early of Turnpike Troubadours, Dan Oestreicher of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, along with Tulsa singers/MCs, Tea Rush, and 1st Verse. The sound is urgent and expansive, capturing the raw energy, experimentation, and creative alchemy of live collaboration. The genre-defying journey blends jazz, soul, and ambient textures, while delivering a deep, groove-heavy soundscape for the listener.

Chris Combs
the Tulsa-based guitarist, composer, and music producer Chris Combs, who's known for his work with COMBSY, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, and other jazz/experimental/multi-genre outfits. Combs tells us about (and shares tracks from) his forthcoming album, "Roche Blave: Large Ensemble Works Recorded Live in Switzerland," which will be released by the nonprofit Horton Records on April 30th. This recording documents a remarkable, hitherto-unreleased "live" performance from 2012, for which Combs was commissioned to write music for an international jazz festival in Bern, Switzerland. As Combs tells us, his writing for this concert was very much inspired by the jazz-meets-classical compositions of Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, Ornette Coleman, and others.

This album contains no booklet.
