Info for NENA (Remastered & Selected Works)

The debut album by the band NENA (with the same title) was released in 1983 and quickly conquered the German charts with numerous hit singles. ‘Nur Geträumt’, “Leuchtturm”, ‘99 Luftballons’ – this album gave more than one generation their favourite songs for eternity. In 1984, the legendary song ‘99 Luftballons’ became a global hit and cemented the band's place in international music history.

Nena: "Our guitarist Carlo Karges had the vision for the lyrics to the song when we were at a Rolling Stones concert in Berlin with the band in 1982. At the end of the show, the Stones released balloons that the wind carried towards the Wall and the GDR. Seeing this powerful image, Carlo wondered what might happen if someone misunderstood it. He wrote the lyrics that same night and showed them to me the next day in the rehearsal room. Just reading the lines sent a shiver down my spine and I wanted to sing it right away. From then on, there was no stopping it (: ... And as long as I'm on stage, there's no Nena concert without the balloons."

Now, a good 40 years later, Nena, Carlo (from heaven), Uwe, Jürgen, Rolf and BMG are celebrating the release of this album with a special anniversary edition. All original tracks have been lovingly remastered from the original tapes to ensure excellent sound quality and faithfully reproduce the spirit of the time. In addition to the remastered NENA album, the anniversary edition includes previously unreleased material: In addition to AMOUR CANDIDE, a French-language version of the 1983 song ‘Nur Geträumt’ that turned up in the Rock n Roll archives, fans can look forward to spectacularly energetic and previously unreleased live tracks from NENA concerts in 1984, as well as rare B-sides.

This comprehensive and stylishly compiled anniversary edition gives old and new fans alike the opportunity to rediscover the magic of this legendary album. br>
