Info for Joseph Umstatt: Three Harpsichord Concertos & Two Flute Concertos
"Simply put, this is excellent, rich in the most beautiful 'affects,' wonderfully transparent in sound, with a light touch of swing in the fast movements that truly brings this music to life, sparkling in the Allegro, and delightfully sentimental in the slow movements (not at all saccharine)": So wrote a reviewer who was able to examine this recording before its release. Indeed, these concertos, recorded here for the first time on original instruments, possess a distinctive beauty that makes them truly remarkable. Their composer, Joseph Umstatt (1711–1762), proves himself in these creations—as virtuosic as they are ethereal—to be a connoisseur and master of the galant style, which was then taking the entire musical world by storm. How else could he have spent the last decade of his life as court composer and Kapellmeister to the Prince-Bishop of Bamberg?

Ensemble Klingekunst
The Ensemble Klingekunst
transforms the term, already used by Telemann and Mattheson, into a multifaceted concept: In its truest sense as music in all its expressive possibilities, Klingekunst stands for expressive and passionate music-making. Founded in 2009 by Maja Mijatović and Sieglinde Größinger, Klingekunst forms a pool of artists who come together to realize extraordinary projects. Although a thorough engagement with historical performance practice underlies the ensemble's work, the vibrant communication of music is paramount. This involves not only rediscovering precious rarities (such as unknown music from Vienna during the time of Maria Theresa) and juxtaposing them with well-known masterpieces, but also creating new and exciting frameworks, such as in the form of a Baroque crime story.
Multiple live concerts on the Austrian cultural radio station Ö1 as part of Bernhard Trehbuch's "Italia Mia," as well as guest appearances on "Ö1 Early Music - Reinterpreted."
