The trio HOT HEROS
was founded in Tampere in 2015 and consists of saxophonist Sami Sippola, double bassist Ville Rauhala, and drummer and percussionist Janne Tuomi. All three are among Finland's leading jazz musicians, have played with numerous stars, and have released several recordings.
HOT HEROS began with more freely improvised jazz, then shifted their sound towards folk-based themes and more lyrical compositions, which serve as a foundation for their expansive, sometimes ecstatic improvisations. HOT HEROS have released eight CDs. Their second, Folkjazz From Finland, was nominated for the Jazz Emma Award in 2018, and their fourth, Vodjanoi, features the renowned pianist Iro Haarla. Janne Tuomi also toured Germany with Narinkka on the second DFG tour.
