Schweizer Jugendchor
Biography Schweizer Jugendchor
The Swiss Youth Choir
sees itself as a top ensemble and has been delighting audiences with its concerts at home and abroad for 30 years with its freshness, musicality and precision, the diversity of its performances and its irresistible charm.
The Swiss Youth Choir not only performs choral music at the highest possible level, but has also turned out to be a real training ground for the Swiss choir scene in recent years. Many of the successful young Swiss conductors have gained invaluable experience as assistants in the Swiss Youth Choir. Former singers are forming new, young and young-at-heart ensembles.
The Swiss Youth Choir builds bridges between the language regions and is living proof that high standards of amateur music and fun are not mutually exclusive, but rather mutually enriching. The Swiss Youth Choir is an important network for many aspiring professional musicians who can be found in its ranks. Many friendships and musical partnerships have survived the time in the Swiss Youth Choir.
Nicolas Fink
The Bernese conductor Nicolas Fink has been working with the Swiss Youth Choir since 2016 and will take over its artistic direction in 2018. His greatest concern is the reorientation of the ensemble and the promotion of talented singers and conductors. His rehearsal work is shaped by his many years of experience with the leading professional choirs throughout Europe (WDR Radio Choir, Berlin Radio Choir, MDR Leipzig Radio Choir, Choeur de Radio France, Coro Casa da Mùsica in Porto, among others). Nicolas Fink is chief conductor of the WDR Cologne Radio Choir, choir director of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and artistic director of the NRW State Youth Choir.
