David Friedli
„Born on July 12th 1995 in Berne, David Friedli was raised in the countryside near the beautiful city Thun surrounded by the mountains of the Bernese Oberland. He already found his passion for music as a toddler. After a few tries with other instruments, he fell in love with the guitar at the age of 12.
After his grammar school diploma and one year of musical preparation (Swiss Jazz School), he graduated 2017 from his Bachelor studies at the University Of Arts Of Jazz & Contemporary Music in Berne, having had instrumental lessons with Tomas Sauter. Continuing his Master studies in Composition & Theory with teachers Peter Thomas Gromer and Klaus Wagenleiter, he will finish these in 2019. In 2012 he won a scholarship prize for young jazz talents at the "Langnau Jazz Nights Festival“.
Supportively, he plays in different bands of musical genres like Pop, Jazz, Funk, Rock and Folk (e.g. „Frost&Fog“, „Jessanna“, „DUS“ and others). As a bandleader and composer of Modern Jazzrock Trio „Forlorn Elm“, he released his first album „Dreaming Awake“ on Vinyl LP and digital download in 2016. The second album by "Forlorn Elm" will be released in spring 2018 on Berlin Jazz Label „QFTF“.
