Zsigmond Gerlóczy
Biography Zsigmond Gerlóczy
Zsigmond Gerloczy
is a Hungarian pianist and composer whose career is characterized by entirely improvised solo performances and the blending of genres. His first solo album, *Narrow Path*, was released in 2023. In Hungary, he regularly performs as part of the programs at the BMC/Opus Jazz Club and Müpa.
He has studied classical and jazz piano and composition since his youth. Since the age of eight, he has been an advocate of free improvisation that strives for thematic cohesion, and he has been giving entirely improvised solo concerts since the age of nine.
His goal is to highlight the connections between various musical “dialects”—including world music, Baroque, Viennese Classical, Post-Romantic, bebop, funk, and pop. He views improvisation as a compositional tool.
