Mariann Marczi
is a Hungarian concert-pianist, soloist and chamber musician. She is professor at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest. Her DLA / DMA dissertation deals with "György Ligeti's Etudes for Piano" (2008). She was awarded Habilitation in 2022 at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest.
In 2025, she achieved outstanding international success: she won the Silver Prize at the American Classical Music Awards, first prize at the International Moscow Music Competition, second prize at the International Clara Schumann Competition and the International Mozart Competition Vienna, and also received a special prize at the European Virtuoso Music Awards.
Earlier in her career, she won second prize at the Lajtha László Competition in 1992, the grand prize at the Chopin Festival in Budapest in 1993, first prize at the Youth Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Budapest and the Bach Special Prize at the International Piano Competition in Senigallia in 1994, third prize at the Andor Földes Piano Competition in 1996, third prize at the Chopin Piano Competition in Szeged in 1999, second prize at the Leó Weiner Chamber Music Competition in Budapest and the Schönberg Prize of the Arnold Schönberg Stiftung in Baden bei Wien in 2000, and a special prize at the International Smetana Competition in Plzeň in 2005.
Performing at 35-40 concerts a year, she has played in the most prestigious concert halls in Hungary and in most European countries and in the United States.
Mariann Marczi has made recordings for the Odradek Records label.
Her first album "SPLINTERS" featuring 20th Century Hungarian Works for Piano in 2013 was nominated for the BBC Music Magazine Award.
Her second album, “PAST VISIONS” paying homage to Schubert and Schumann, was released in 2019.
