Info for Magpie (Expansion Pack)
Magpie (Expansion Pack) is an extension of Peach Pit’s fourth studio album Magpie. The Expansion Pack includes eight alternate versions of songs from Magpie, one cover, and a brand-new song called “Tell Me You Love Me.” With new artwork and on canary yellow vinyl, Magpie (Expansion Pack) is out on May 9th.
Lead singer, Neil Smith, says of the track/expansion pack “Welcome to the “Magpie Expansion Pack”. This is a collection of songs assembled from old demos, first takes, alternate versions, covers and new unreleased music. But first, we have a duet of “Did You Love Somebody” with our friend, Sir Chloe. We had always imagined this song to be performed by two people, the original DYLS from our record Magpie is sung alone, giving the impression that one lovelorn person to another is begging for reassurance that they are loved. Now with Chloe’s duet vocals and new second verse written by her, the song has changed into its true form, an intimate conversation between a couple experiencing the doubts and insecurities that show up when you’re falling in love.”

Peach Pit
With their relaxed sound, Peach Pit got off to a meteoric start with their debut EP "Sweet FA" and their debut album "Being So Normal." They self-deprecatingly describe their music as "chewed bubblegum pop," delivering a blend of melancholic pop, laid-back indie, folk, and surf rock, enhanced with spoken-word elements and catchy melodies. The quartet went viral in 2016 with the song "Peach Pit" from their first EP, laying the foundation for a major career. In 2017, the band's biggest hits to date followed: "Alrighty Aphrodite" (137 million streams on Spotify) and "Tommy's Party" (102 million streams), which also included "Shampoo Bottles" (86 million streams) from their second album, "You And Your Friends," released in 2020. Following an Audiotree performance, a tour supporting Two Door Cinema Club, and their own headline tours and performances at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Day In Day Out, Lollapalooza, and many more, Peach Pit will return to Europe in 2025 with their new album, "Magpie." In April 2025, the band will return to Germany for three shows, playing in Cologne, Hamburg, and Berlin.
Back in 2014, singer and guitarist Neil Smith and guitarist and keyboardist Chris Vanderkooy decided to start a joint musical project. In 2016, the project was expanded to include bassist Peter Wilton and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi and officially formed as a band under the name Peach Pit. That same year, the EP "Sweet FA" was released, which revealed the band's first hit, "Peach Pit", went viral and had been streamed more than 25 million times by 2017. The four-track EP now has a total of more than 220 million streams on Spotify. That same year, the quartet worked on their debut album "Being So Normal", which was released in 2017 via the Vancouver-based indie label Kingfisher Bluez and further built on their success with its laid-back vibe and groovy tracks like "Drop The Guillotine", "Alrighty Aphrodite" and "Tommy's Party". Due to the continued success of "Being So Normal," the band members quit their jobs after the release of "Being So Normal" to tour North America, Europe, and Asia for the first time in 2017 and 2018. After signing with Columbia Records, the long-awaited second album, "You And Your Friends," was released in 2020. It differed from the debut with a more mature sound, but continued the band's relaxed indie vibe on "Black Licorice" and "Shampoo Bottles" with subtle psychedelic influences. The third album, "From 2 To 3," released in 2022, further developed this sound and enjoyed further success with tracks like "Up Granville" and "Give Up Baby Go." Also in 2022, guitarist, keyboardist, and violinist Dougal McLean joined the band.
"Magpie" will be released as Peach Pit's fourth album on October 25, 2024. The accompanying title track was released in August 2024, followed by the single "Did You Love Somebody," an emotional acoustic ballad in the singer-songwriter style that contrasts with the rocky sound of the "Magpie" single and hints at the musical versatility of the fourth album.
