Troye Sivan
(born Troye Sivan Mellet on June 5, 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South African-born Australian singer, songwriter, actor and YouTube personality. Troye’s family moved to Australia when he was just two-years-old due to rising crime. While growing up in Perth, Troye pursued his interest in music by singing at the Channel Seven Perth Telethon. His 2006 performance included a duet with Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian. While competing in Australia’s StarSearch in 2007, he made it to the grand finals. Such success led to him releasing his debut EP, Dare To Dream, in 2008. In 2013, he was signed to EMI Australia and in 2014, he released a five-son EP called TRXYE. It debuted at No. 1 on iTunes in over 55 countries. The lead single from the EP, “Happy Little Pill,” broke the Top 10 on the ARIA single Chart and it was certified Gold. His second EP, Wild, was released in September 2015. His followed it up with his debut studio album, Blue Neighbourhood, in December 2015. In May 2016, Troye performed as the 2016 Billboard Awards, the biggest stage of his career at the time. In addition to singing, Troye is an accomplished actor. He appeared as a young James Howlett in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the lead role in the 2009 film, Spud. Troye also has a large presence on YouTube as his YouTube channel is the third most subscribed channel in Australia.
