Daumantas Kirilauskas
is a Lithuanian pianist and Professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Daumantas Kirilauskas graduated from M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art in 1991 and studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg (Austria) graduating with a cum laude master’s degree in Arts. His teachers were Liucija Drąsutienė (from 1984 to 1994) and Karl-Heinz Kämmerling (from 1994 to 2000).
Daumantas Kirilauskas is a laureate of national and international competitions. In 2019, Daumantas Kirilauskas was awarded the title of Bösendorder Artist (Austria). In 2021 he was awarded a “Golden disc” by the Lithuanian Musicians Union for artistic excellence and concert activities.
With numerous concerts, the pianist has toured almost all European countries, the USA, and Iran. Daumantas Kirilauskas has performed with all Lithuanian orchestras, as well as with the Latvian Sinfonietta Riga, the Finnish Lappeenranta City Orchestra, and the Kremerata Baltica Soloists. He is a participant of many festivals and is among traditional guests of the International Thomas Mann Festival (Lithuania) and the Gaida Contemporary Music Festival (Lithuania).
The pianist’s repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the most recent works of the 21st century and holds the most prominent place for compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven. Beside solo performances, Daumantas Kirilauskas plays chamber music with acclaimed Lithuanian and foreign soloists and ensembles, including the Artis-Quartett (Vienna, Austria). He is the first performer of many compositions.
Daumantas Kirilauskas has released 17 solo albums. Sideralis, a composition by the Lithuanian composer Feliksas Bajoras, performed by Daumantas Kirilauskas, was released in 2018 by the publisher RMN Classical. Many of the recordings with the performances by the pianist are stored in the archives of the Lithuanian radio. Several films and staged performances contain piano soundtracks played by the musician.
