Tony Evans Jr is One of Country Music’s Bright Young Stars. The Atlanta native is changing the perspective on country music by carving his own unique lane.

“I really wanted to write songs that were emotional and intimate,” said Country singer Tony Evans, Jr. about his debut EP “Starless” and its current single “Need Somebody.” “I want to show fans the direction I’m going in (Country)…the vibe…it’s unique.”

Tony Evans, Jr. is currently based in Nashville – the hub for Country music. The “Starless” EP has music producer Ron Fair (Christina Aguilera) and songwriter Fred Wilhelm (Faith Hill) on the project.

“When I was a kid, my dad had me singing at family gatherings of 20 – 30 people. I had my guitar and sung songs I had written,” he started to say when I asked why Country music. “My grandmother and aunties said, ‘You a Country singer.’ I said I ain’t no Country singer, I’m from Atlanta! My aunties said, ‘In 10 years we’ll see.’ And they were right.”

Once you hear him you’ll come to the same conclusion his aunties did and know that he is going to be one of the biggest Country singers in the world. In fact, that is what he told me he wants to be!

Who were some early musical influences that established your taste in music in general?

"I will say a lot of the biggest ones for me will be George Strait, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson. With Teddy Pendergrass, it was his stage presence. It’s just every time he grabbed the mic, it was just a master class and performing. And me and Teddy were very different when it comes to our energies and vibes and everything I think on stage because I’m playing the guitar, and it’s more mellow, but at the same time, performance is performance. So I try to take what I can from the master himself when it comes to that. Then you look at a guy like Nat King Cole, who I feel like I relate a little bit more to with the way that he performed. He was just so chill, and it was all about the expression. So I pick and choose what I’m learning from who you are." (Tony Evans Jr.)
