Biographie Spoonful Of Blues
Spoonful of Blues
is one of Norway’s most popular blues bands. This much sought-after band tours Norwegian blues clubs and festivals to packed houses, and is performing internationally with increasing frequency, attracting growing attention. Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, Poland and the USA feature on their tour schedule every year.
The band is behind albums that have been acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic. Spoonful of Blues last enjoyed great success when they performed at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival in Florida in the summer of 2019.
Spoonful of Blues are currently in the studio recording a new album, scheduled for release this summer. It is now two decades since the band made their debut with their first album, Three Car Garage. Since then, they have released several albums and built up a large and enthusiastic following through their high-energy live performances. With a strong repertoire of original material and with Morten Omlid and Jostein Forsberg at the helm, Spoonful of Blues are guaranteed to create a great atmosphere in any setting. The Notodden-based band now have new songs and a finely honed show to tour with once the pandemic is over.
In addition to their own critically acclaimed album releases, the lads from Notodden have been involved in three albums that have garnered attention at the Blues Music Awards in the US. Spoonful of Blues are the only Norwegian band to boast a win at the American Blues Music Awards in the ‘Traditional Blues Album of the Year’ category. This was for the album *Chikadelic*, which they recorded at Juke Joint Studio in Notodden alongside Mississippi artist James ‘Super Chikan’ Johnson. The band also backed Louisiana artist Lazy Lester on his Blues Music Awards-nominated comeback album ‘You Better Listen’. Morten Omlid and Jostein Forsberg were also involved in Louisiana Red’s Blues Music Awards-nominated album ‘Back To The Black Bayou’. This is unique in a Norwegian context and has not happened with any other Norwegian blues band, either before or since.
At the Notodden Blues Festival, Spoonful of Blues’ performances are a meeting place for an ever-growing crowd. The popular band from Notodden knows how to appreciate its audience and is apparently willing to sell its soul to ensure people have an unforgettable experience at their concerts.
