Queen Elisabeth Competition Cello 2017: Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 (Victor Julien-Laferrière)

This is very, very solid and I like it! The first movement was a bit too fast, it sounded a bit rushing because the orchestra couldn't follow at some point (especially the woodwind section). The second movement was characterized by a very deep sound, which I like very much. The cadenza had crystal clear sound, perfect intonation. The last movement was perfectly in tempo and it was a satisfying performance. He will end high. My score 8.8/10.
