Info zu Ea Fantasia
Seit ich 2006 zum ersten Mal „Hugleiðing“ (Meditation) der Komponistin Karólína Eiríksdóttir gespielt habe, fließt dieses isländische Soloviolin-Musikprojekt durch meine Adern. Im Jahr 2013 schrieb John Speight auf meine Bitte hin sein „Soliloquy“ (Titel 7 und 8). Zwei weitere, neuere Auftragswerke sind auf dem Album zu finden, beide von Komponisten, die selbst Geige spielen: „Fragile Stillness“ von Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir und „Aria“ von María Huld Markan. Island hat eine lange Tradition des Geigenspiels, und der Volksüberlieferung zufolge war jeder Bauer in bestimmten Tälern im Norden ein Geigenspieler. „Ea Fantasia“ (Track 4), meine eigene Komposition, ist vom Eröffnungsstück „Alia Fantasia“ von Nicola Matteis Jr. inspiriert. Er war der in London geborene Sohn des italienischen Komponisten Nicola Matteis, der „Ayers and Grounds“ schrieb. Nicola Junior war wie sein Vater Geiger und lebte in Wien, wo er zahlreiche Ballette für die kaiserliche Oper komponierte. Sein Bariolage (Arpeggien über vier Saiten) erinnert mich an den Anfang von „Fratres“ von Arvo Pärt und Bachs „Chaconne“ – Schlüsselwerke im Violinrepertoire –, die beide eine große Inspiration für mich waren.
