Info zu Labyrinth: Mozart, Ligeti & Bach
Following on from their critically acclaimed debut album (Métamorphoses: Haydn, Ligeti & Brahms), the Dudok Kwartet Amsterdam returns to the Resonus label with a compelling programme of works around the theme of counterpoint & labyrinth.
Alongside the first of Mozart’s ‘Haydn’ Quartets the group presents György Ligeti’s complex micropolyphonic second string quartet, while completing the album are musical puzzles in the form of canons by J.S. Bach.
„The Dudoks have a lithe, lively sound and alert sense of structure and detail: a group to watch“ (The Observer)
„The Dudok Kwartet shows a very healthy dose of accomplished achievement in this their debut disc. The recording has the fresh liveliness of a concert.“
(De Telegraaf)

Willem Marinus Dudok (1884 – 1974) was a famous Dutch architect. He was also a great lover of music: he came from a musical family and composed music in his spare time. “I owe more to composers than I owe to any architect”, he wrote. "I feel deeply the common core of music and architecture: after all, they both derive their value from the right proportions."
