Info zu Beethoven (arr. Carl Czerny): Symphonies 1 & 5
Famously a pupil of Beethoven himself, the prolific Austrian pianist and composer Carl Czerny made many arrangements of works by Beethoven for varying forces, including all nine of his symphonies arranged for piano duet.
Here receiving their first recordings are Czerny’s arrangements of two of Beethoven’s best-known symphonies, nos. 1 and 5. Czerny’s immense skill in realising these towering achievements through just a single instrument is vividly brought to life by acclaimed pianists Vicky Yannoula and George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, employing every pianistic colour available as well as considerable technique and virtuosity.
„As each mesmerising episode unfolds, the listener is compelled along by the sheer force of Lazaridis's artistic personality.“ Classic FM)
