Info zu Liminal Spaces
This project started as a weekly session with drummer Michel Lambert and guest bassists. With new music written specifically for this trio, it took on a life of its own and ultimately became this record. After two quartet records and his previous quintet record, Simon Legault finally felt ready to make his first trio album. And with these exceptional musicians it was an absolute joy to write, play and record.
"Guitar trio is a beautiful but demanding art. Simon, Adrian and Michel are bringing a powerful contribution here, coming up with a consistent and meaningful statement. All three have great command of their instrument, and it allows them to develop their ideas with confidence and clarity. The chemistry between them is palpable, and the music always sounds interesting and accomplished. Simon's playing is graced with subtlety, depth and a sure sense of construction. Phrases sound effortless while making sense, each note is carefully weighed and articulated, and the harmonic passages are beautifully executed. I also enjoyed the solo tracks a lot, which bring poetry and release.
Simon's musical intelligence and mastery of the instrument can, I am sure, lead him to many paths if he wishes. I really look forward to hearing future projects from this highly gifted musician." (Jean-Michel Pilc)
