Info zu K-024
“K/024” is the new recording project conceived and curated by trombonist Eugenio Renzetti, here with the Group Zero formation, produced by the Filibusta Records label. The album consists of eleven tracks and is dedicated to and inspired by the works of the writer Franz Kafka, on the centenary of his death, with the reciting voice of Federico Sanguineti, philologist and intellectual, as well as son of the famous Edoardo, poet, writer, parliamentarian and jazz enthusiast.
The album unfolds in the constant dialogue between literature and music. Between Kafka's texts, chosen and reassembled by Renzetti and then recited by Sanguineti, and the notes of the Eugenio Renzetti Group Zero, the project is full of creative and, at times, instinctive elements, in which Renzetti skillfully mixes his passion for literature with that for experimentation and musical research.
His compositions come to life from reading some of the Bohemian poet's masterpieces such as America, The Metamorphosis, The Trial, The Castle, as well as various stories and letters. The emotional engine of the album is Letter to the Father, declined in the relationship between the writer and the father figure, but also as an archetype of the relationship. The album's lineup includes the poem Sanguineti according to Sanguineti, which the writer dedicated to his father Edoardo, ten years after his death.
The musical style of the project moves between contemporary music and jazz, rock and avant-garde music. The final result is a work without any conventional limits or margins within which to remain, with a writing that is clear and interesting. The album explores unconventional territories, while remaining in perfect balance between narrative choices and improvisational space.
The compositions enhance the expressive capabilities of the Eugenio Renzetti Group Zero, a group composed of some of the most important musicians on the Italian jazz scene. In addition to the leader and trombonist, the group includes Simone Alessandrini (alto sax, soprano sax, flute), Roberto Bottalico (tenor sax, clarinet), Francesco Fratini (trumpet, flugelhorn), Andrea Saffirio (piano, keyboards), Pietro Ciancaglini (double bass, electric bass) and Riccardo Gambatesa (drums). The lineup is joined for “K/024” by Rita Debora Iannotta (jew’s harp), Chiara Orlando (vocals), Daniele Fiaschi (guitar) and Pietro Pompei (percussion and games).
After “Camminare Domandando”, released in 2023, “K/024” is Eugenio Renzetti’s second work as a leader. Born in 1992, a trombonist and composer of Roman origins and resident in Sabina for many years, Eugenio divides his life between jazz and contemporary music. After obtaining a second level diploma in jazz trombone at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, Eugenio began collaborating with various groups and formations in 2015. He is currently enrolled in the two-year jazz composition course at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, studying counterpoint and composition, and is a permanent member of the PMCE – Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble. Eugenio is also an avid reader of books and a passionate writer, elements that then led him to the creation of “K/024”.
