Info zu Lamento

Lamento ist ein italienisches frühbarockes Konzertprogramm mit Musik von ca 1620-1680. Werke von Monteverdi, Frescobaldi, Kapsberger, Uccellini, Sances, Ferrari, Pandolfi Mealli, Cesti. Das Programm enthält auch enige Marien-Lamentationen, daher passt es besonders gut für Kirchenkonzerte. Die Künstler haben das Programm Lamento im Juni 2020 für LAWO eingespielt und aufgenommen. Das Varazdin Barockfestival zeichnete Kielland und Oslo Circles im September 2019 nach zwei Konzerten mit diesem Programm mit dem Kritikerpreis des Festivals aus.

A singer with such a charisma challenged her colleagues." (Dreh-Punkt-Kultur) Mezzo-soprano Marianne Beate Kielland is famous for her strong stage presence and musical integrity. Gramophone Magazine writes about her: "The mezzo-soprano is quite outstanding: strong, firm, sensitive in modulations, imaginative in her treatment of words, with a voice pure in quality, wide in range and unfalteringly true in intonation."

She is educated from Norwegian Academy of Music, where she studied with Svein Bjørkøy. She has also studied with Oren Brown and Barbara Bonney.

She is one of Europe’s foremost concert singers, and she regularly appears in the concert halls of Europe, Japan and America with conductors such as: Masaaki Suzuki, Andrew Manze, Michel Corboz, Leonardo Alarcon, Herbert Blomstedt, Christopher Moulds, Jordi Savall, Rinaldo Alessandrini and Thomas Dausgaard.

In 2012 she was US Grammy nominee in "Best Vocal Classical Album» for "Veslemøy Synsk" by Olav Anton Thommessen, and with this and more than 50 other recordings and a wide range of repertoire and performances, she is established as a remarkable interpreter of music from baroque to contemporary era.

Oslo Circles
was founded in Oslo in 2015, and consists of some of the most established musicians in Scandinavia within the world of baroque music. The members of the group regularly play in orchestras like Concerto Copenhagen, Barokksolistene, B’Rock, Barokkanerne, Academia Montis Regalis, Finnish Baroque Orchestra. The baroque violinist Astrid Kirschner has gathered a “musical circle”, where all the members bring to the group their unique talent and musical experience, adding their personal input of different styles, nationalities and backgrounds. Oslo Circles has a passion for showing how modern baroque music can be – through playfulness and freedom in the moment of performing. Oslo Circles works in close collaboration with Australian countertenor star David Hansen, as well as with Marianne Beate Kielland (mezzosoprano), Berit Norbakken (soprano), Magnus Staveland (tenor), Halvor F. Melien (bassbarytone), Rinaldo Alessandrini (harpsichord) and has also been critically acclaimed for Seicento Italiano – a journey through the rhythm and dynamics of 17th century Italian music, The Secret Diary of Samuel Pepys – a collaboration with the Norwegian film star Anders Baasmo Christiansen, and the Passion project The Virgin’s Tears. Oslo Circles has performed at baroque festivals like Froville Festival (France), Baroque & Beyond (Sweden), Oslo Kammermusikkfestival (Norway), Wunderkammer (Trieste/Italy), Korkyra Baroque Festival (Croatia), Spazio & Musica (Vicenza/Italy) and Varazdin Baroque Evenings (Croatia), where Oslo Circles in September 2019 also won the critic's prize for the festival's best musical interpretation. In 2018 Oslo Circles started its own concert series in Oslo : 1685, in Akershus slottskirke, in the heart of Oslo. In november 2019 Oslo Circles' first CD, One Charming Night (SIMAX, with David Hansen, countertenor, arias and theatre music of Henry Purcell) has been released. In January 2022, Oslo Circles 2.recording LAMENTO, with Marianne Beate Kielland, mezzosoprano will be released for LAWO.. Oslo Circles receives the support of The Norwegian Arts Council, Music Norway, The Aksel Bye Foundation, the Fund for Performing Artists and Oslo district.
